More than 500 assorted pyrotechnics and fireworks were found on the premises of a Moldovan driver at the Costești customs post. They were camouflaged in a box in the form of a parcel and had not been declared to customs officials, IPN reports.
According to a press release of the Customs Service, the 31-year-old Moldovan is documented for attempted illicit transportation of a commercial consignment of pyrotechnic articles.
The pyrotechnic articles were discovered after officials of the Costești customs post checked a minibus traveling from Germany to the Republic of Moldova carrying passengers. The driver and passengers reported that they were not carrying declarable goods.
During a detailed physical inspection of the means of transport, customs officials discovered pyrotechnic articles and fireworks in the luggage compartment.
