More than 450 rescuers and firefighters will work on New Year's Eve so that the citizens can celebrate safely. The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations said that the teams will be ready to deal with any risk situation and perform rescue missions, with 140 units of specialized equipment, IPN reports.
During the winter holidays, the Inspectorate reiterates the importance of complying with fire and safety rules in order to prevent fires and various risk situations.
Rescuers urge people not to overload stoves and to avoid lighting fires in them with easily flammable liquids, such as gasoline, lamp gas or other dangerous substances. It is also essential to permanently ventilate the rooms where there are stoves or gas-fired installations.
Overloading or using defective electrical appliances is another danger, and the citizens are urged to be cautious in order to prevent fires in homes.
Specialists recommend that the fir tree should be mounted on a stable support and should not touch radiators, ceilings, walls or electrical installations. Firefighters warn that lighting candles on the Christmas tree and using faulty electrical decorations are prohibited. It is important to unplug lights and garlands at night so as to minimize any risk.
The population is urged to avoid using pyrotechnics as these can cause fires, burns, trauma and serious accidents. The parents should permanently supervise their children and not allow them to play with open fire or use pyrotechnics.
In case of emergencies, the citizens should call the 112 Service.
