Thousands of people responded to the request to donate food products for persons in need within the Easter campaign ”Meal of Joy” that was staged by the Social Mission “Diaconia” on March 31, on the Saturday before Palm Sunday, IPN reports.

Owing to the involvement and solidarity of the people, there were collected 41 tonnes of food products that will be used to give food parcels to persons from socially deprived families and also to make warm meals at the five social eateries before the Easter holidays.

The campaign covered over 100 stores in 22 communities and involved more than 1,000 volunteers.

In 2017, there were gathered 37 tonnes of food products and money. As many as 3,000 food parcels were distributed to persons in need and 300 elderly people daily had by a free meal at the five social eateries during the year.
