More than 319,000 electors or 11.4% of the eligible voters cast their ballots by 11am. The voter turnout in Chisinau was of 9%, which is slightly over 60,000 voters, IPN reports.

The women are more active than the men, the ratio being 50.73%:49.27%.

43.11% were voters aged between 56 and 70, 23.57% - between 41 and 55, 16.09% - between 26 and 40, 12.61% - 71 and up, 4.64% - between 18 and 25.

The polls are open until 9pm. As many as 2 807 182 citizens eligible to vote are expected to go to the polls today. A minimum voter turnout of one third of the voters put on the register of voters is needed for the elections to be validated.
