More than 200 documentaries made in different countries will take part in the tenth International Documentary Film Festival “Chronograph” that opened at 7pm on May 10. The festival is housed by the Odeon Movie Theater, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The jury members at the Main Section are Pascal Servais from France, Grit Lemke from Germany, Zviad Dolidze from Georgia, Irina Margareta Nistor from Romania, and Mihai Tarna from Moldova. A number of filmmakers, directors, operators and producers will present their works at the festival and will answer the public’s questions in a Q&A session after the screenings.
The festival will be opened by the British film “The Real Social Network” that is about student protests in London.
According to the festival’s director Virgiliu Margineanu, the award gala will take place on May 14.
There are five categories of prizes at the festival, such as: the Special Prize of the Jury, the Prize for Image, the Prize for Direction, the Top Prize, and the Festival’s Trophy. There will be also awarded special prizes, including the Public Sympathy, and “Ion Vatamanu” that was instituted in 2007.
On the last day of the festival on May 15, OWH Studio will stage an exhibition about the ten years of work of “Chronograph” and will organize the showing of the documentaries that became winners during the ten editions of the festival. On May 18, when it is celebrated the International Museum Day, those interested in history and arts will be able to see eight documentaries about history and culture.
The top prizes in the Main Section and cadRO Section are offered by the Chisinau-based Romanian Cultural Institute “Mihai Eminescu”, while for the films in the Local TV Productions Section – by Publika TV.
Anyone can see the documentaries screened within “Chronograph” with tickets and season tickets that cost 60 lei. The proceeds will go to give the Public Sympathy Prizes.
