At the first step of matriculation in the lyceums of Chisinau municipality 2006-2007, held on June 20–July 5, 3601 young people were admitted; other 1,740 seats are still vacant. According to the data of the Municipal Education, Science, Youth and Sport Department for national classes, real and humanitarian classes, 3421 seats in lyceums of Chisinau municipality are available, of them 2395 are already completed. For Russian classes the matriculation of 1669 pupils is planned, 1139 pupils are already admitted. In the artistic classes 34 pupils were admitted, and about 81 seats are still vacant, and in the sportive classes 33 pupils were matriculated, other 42 seats remaining vacant. Within the period August 15 – 20, the second matriculation procedure will be organized in the lyceums where vacant seats are still available. The Matriculation Commission will meet for the second time on August 23-25. The lyceums „Nicolae Iorga”, „Mircea Eliade”, „Spiru Haret”, „Dante Aligheri”, „Nikolai Gogol”, „Constantin Sibirski”, „Gheorghe Asachi”, „Petru Zadnipru”, „Ion Creanga” are no vacant seats and „Mihai Eminescu” has only 8 vacant seats in the francophone class. The head of the Education, Science, Youth and Sport Department, Alexandru Roman, announced previously that, in the last year in the lyceums of the municipality about 600 seats were vacant, according to the Matriculation Plan. 60 lyceums are working in Chisinau municipality. The matriculation in lyceums of Chisinau municipality is performed on the ground of the average mark the candidates have at the graduating exams.
