The police during three weeks identified more than 150 violations committed by taxi drivers. According to the National Patrolling Inspectorate, among the most serious violations are the use of vehicles with technical faults or that were reequipped without the required authorization and the illegal transportation of passengers, IPN reports.
There were also discovered taxis that didn’t meet the conditions stipulated in the license. Also, advertisements were illegally places on cabs and some of the persons carried out entrepreneurial activities without an authorization, license or certificate. As a result, there were drawn up 35 proceedings and confiscated five license plates and registration certificates.
The inspections form part of an operation that will be carried out by the National Patrolling Inspectorate between January 11 and February 22. The inspectors, in concert with the competent bodies, will continue to examine the activity of companies providing taxi passenger transportation services.
According to the Inspectorate, 73 road accidents involving taxis happened on the national roads last year. They resulted in six deaths and 95 persons hurt.
