Over 11,000 applications filed to universities by July 25

More than 11,000 applications for admission to the 30 higher education establishments of Moldova have been submitted by July 25. At state universities, there were filed 10,639 applications to fill the budget-funded places of the first cycle – bachelor’s degree, while at the private ones – 1,205 applications, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Education, the largest number of applications at state universities was submitted to the Armed Forces Academy “Alexandru cel Bun”, the Military Academy “Stefan cel Mare”, the State University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics “N. Testemitanu”, the State University of Moldova, the Technical University of Moldova, the Academy of Economic Studies, and the Teacher Training University “Ion Creanga”.

At private universities, most of the applications were filed to the Free International University of Moldova, the University of Economic Studies and the Cooperative-Commercial University of Moldova.

The most popular faculties are economy, law, journalism, information technology, pharmaceutics, architecture, industrial and civil constructions, etc.

Under the 2014 admission plan of universities, 19,519 places will be available for the first cycle, of which 6,480 are budget-funded, while 13,039 are contract-based. A number of 8,688 places will be provided for the second cycle – master’s degree. Of them, 3,548 are budget-funded, while 5,140 are contract-based.

The admission session will last until August 31. This year, the universities set the own deadlines for submissions and for holding the admission contest and announcing the intermediary and final results.
