Other 11 youth organizations joined the campaign “Money Back”
Other 11 youth organizations joined on Wednesday, July 5 the Campaign “Money Back”, initiated at the beginning of June by the Communist Youth Union, Students Alliance of Moldova and Transnistrian Students Association. They demand to the higher education institutions to give back the supplementary taxes collected for living in hostels.
Among those 11 organizations that joined at a press conference the campaign can be enumerated the Students Interuniversity Council, the Youth Association “Lilia”, the Association “Unity through Diversity”, the Center for Promoting Tolerance, the Association “Gender’s Voice”, the Ukrainian Youth Association etc.
The representatives of these organizations expressed their disapproval regarding the inactions of the institution’s administrations in solving the problems of the students. As well they protested against the decision of several institutions to increase, starting September 1, the accommodation tax for some categories of students, intention which the organizations consider as provocative.
Those three organizations intend to request the dismissal of rectors heading several higher education institutions, and as well to organize protest in case they will not comply until September 1 with the requests to cancel the supplementary taxes collected from students for living in hostels.
They are dissatisfied with the lack of any official reactions or concrete actions of 10 higher education institutions: the Technical University, the Academy of Economic Studies, University of Comrat, colleges of Transport, Republican of Informatics, Ecology, Microelectronics, Medicine of Orhei, Pedagogic of Calarasi and Polytechnic of Chisinau, which apply exaggerated tariffs.
The students Associations request from the higher education institutions to create decent conditions in hostels (with showers and kitchens), to prohibit collecting supplementary taxes, repairing the rooms on the account of the institutions, not students’ as before etc.
