OSCE observers to monitor local elections in Moldova
On Monday, April 23, the Central Election Committee (CEC) accredited ten international observers on behalf of OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR).
The ten observers are experts from Slovakia, Greece, Poland, Canada, UK and Romania.
According to CEC members, the accredited persons will follow the international normative documents that Moldova is party to, as well as the internal legislation.
In compliance with the Regulations on the status of observers and their procedure of accreditation, the representatives of specialized organisations for defence, human rights etc. can participate as observers or electoral experts. The observers must apply for accreditation at least 5 days before the day of elections, while CEC is obliged to give its response within five days, and not later than one day before the date of the polls.
