O.S.C.E. hosts exhibition by painter Vasile Movileanu
An exhibition by painter Vasile Movileanu opened at the headquarters of the OSCE Mission to Moldova on April 7.
The exhibition contains 46 works in oil and aquarelle featuring nature, music, the old Chisinau. Movileanu is known as illustrator of books for children and he holds the award Gheorghe Asachi of the Ministry of Education, Science, Youth and Sport and national diplomas.
Movileanu stated to Info-Prim Neo that he has exhibited his works at OSCE to be acquainted to foreign public. He said that „the culture of Moldova is grounded,” while painters have to promote their works alone.
OSCE Mission representative Antonia de Meo said that the mission organises such exhibitions for the second year and it hosted them due to the personal interest of some members at the very beginning and this became a tradition meanwhile. The criteria of selection of exhibitors are rather formal; the only condition is that the works fit the professional atmosphere inside the mission. „We try to invite both artists from Chisinau and from other regions of Moldova, including Transnistria.”
The OSCE representative noted that the mission is informally trying to promote the interests of painters with the purpose to sell the works and the pricelist is displaced on corridors of the mission. In this context, she mentioned a study titled Art as Business worked out by a mission member that will be delivered to Moldovan painters in order to teach them how to promote their works better with the purpose to sell them.
The exhibition of Movileanu is the third one hosted by OSCE Mission this year and another 7 exhibitions will be organised this year. The OSCE Mission has hosted 25 such exhibitions in the past two years.
