OSCE and MAEIE considers as positive the development of the Transnistrian conflict

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova, Andrei Stratan, and Senator Pierre Chevalier, Special Attache of OSCE Belgian Presidential Office, consider as positive the latest development of the Transnistrian conflict. According to MAEIE report, those 2 officials pointed out the expanding of the negotiation format by involving EU and USA in this process, launching of EU Moldovan-Ukrainian Border Assistance Mission, concluding and implementing Joint Declaration of Prime Ministers of Moldova and Ukraine on 30 December 2005. At the same time, the Moldovan officials were concerned about the lack of progress in implementation by Russian Federation of commitments taken at OSCE Summit in Istanbul on complete withdrawal of its troops and ammunitions out of Moldova’s territory. The representative of OSCE also was informed about RM position on the need to change the peacekeeping mechanism in the Security Zone. Moldova is available to continue the constructive discussions with OSCE Presidential Staff in order to get over the obstacle noted within the negotiations and settling down the Transnistrian conflict. On the other hand, Moldovan foreign Minister showed concern about the decision of Russian Federation to cease the import of Moldovan wine goods. The visit of the Special Attaché is included in the context of preparing the visit in Moldova of the Belgian foreign Minister Karel De Gucht, as OSCE chairman.
