Orthodox Christians start observing Apostles Fast
The Fast of the Saint Apostles Peter and Paul, which started on June 20 as per the old Orthodox calendar, is not as severe as others, because fish is allowed, except for Wednesdays and Fridays, Fr. Ioan Ciuntu, senior priest at St. Teodora Church, told Info-Prim Neo.
“This fast is dedicated to the Saint Apostles Peter and Paul and, of course, like with other fasting periods, the Church calls on believers to lead a stricter and more thoughtful life”, said the priest.
During this fast, believers are welcome to receive Communion whenever churches hold liturgies.
The fast will end with the Feast of the Apostles on July 12.
