The national women’s squad found out its opponents in the Europe/Africa zone third group of the Federations Cup that starts in Chisinau on May 8. The draw decided that the Moldovan team will play in the same group with Ireland and Kenya in the qualifiers.

“I’m sure that we have chances to qualify for the upper stage of the competition,” said the leader of the national squad Anastasia Vdovenco. “For the first time in history, we have such a powerful lineup of the national squad. We will fight for qualification,” added Iulia Helbet, one of the most skilled players of Moldova.

Ireland has played in the Federations Cup since 1964. It took part in the world elite for several times. Now it is in the inferior groups. Kenya scored only two victories during its eight participations in this competition.

Moldova will be represented by Anastasia Vdovenco, Gabriela Porubin, Iulia Helbet, Melisa Martinov, and Daniela Ciobanu. Only the finalist states will qualify for the Federations Cup Europe/Africa zone second group.
