The National Opera House in Chisinau will show again the opera “Alexandru Lapusneanu”. The performance will take place on May 6 at 4pm and forms part of the social project “Opera and ballet – closer to you”. Tickets are free of charge. About 1 000 veterans and representatives of NGOs that promote the interests of these people have been invited to the event, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The project “Opera and ballet – closer to you” was launched over two years ago and is implemented by the National Opera House in partnership with the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family.
The opera “Alexandru Lapusneanu” will be restaged on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of its premiere. “The performance is special because it is the only national opera of Moldova. “Alexandru Lapusneanu” is a work about which we care a lot because it is about the history of our nation,” National Opera House director Valeria Seican said in a news conference.
Minister of Labor Valentina Buliga said the project aims to enable the socially deprived groups, like the elderly people, to go to the opera.
“Not all the social strata can afford to familiarize themselves with the national arts. That’s why we decided to implement this project. We hope that such activities will become a tradition and we will organize more performances for those who love arts,” said the head of the Culture Ministry’s Strategy and Development Division Dina Ghimpu.
The score was produced by Master Gheorghe Mustea, by the homonymous novel of Constantin Negruzzi. The opera involves soloists Valeriu Cojocaru, People’s Artist, Angelina Arti, Master of Arts, and Vladimir Zaklikovski, People’s Artist. “Alexandru Lapusneanu” was premiered in Chisinau on December 1, 1987 at the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater “A.S.Pushkin".
