Only Transnistrian region remains under COVID-19 yellow alert

The number of cases of COVID-19 has declined.  The incidence rate during April 11-17 was 26 cases per 100,000 people, down about 25% on a week before. Thirty-seven administrative units are on green alert and only the Transnistrian region remains on yellow alert with an incidence rate of 70 cases per 100,000 people, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Health, the number of pregnant women who got infected with the novel coronavirus during April 11-17 decreased to only four cases. Also, fewer children got infected in the period. The number of deaths from COVID-19 declined by 43% to 12 cases.

“The daily average of infected persons admitted to the hospital during April 11-17 was 251, down 9% on the 14th week. Respectively, the number of beds intended for patients with COVID-19 decreased by 39%, while wards with infected persons remain active at 16 public health facilities,” it is said in a press release of the Ministry of Health.

As to the immunization against COVID-19, national coverage with one douse stands at 32%, while with a completed series at 31%. Vaccination is free and is recommended by medical institutions.
