Only part of Russian consignment reaches Gagauzia
The executive of the Gagauz Territorial-Administrative Unit (GTAU) requires the direct involvement of prime-minister Vasile Tarlev in solving the issue of bringing the humanitarian aid from Russia to the autonomy, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a press release of bashkan Mihail Formuzal.
The communique reads the Gagauz authorities are dissatisfied that the Chisinau Government tergiversates the solution of the problem. Only a part of the consignment reached the autonomy on March 7, after President Vladimir Voronin got involved.
The authorities of the autonomous area accuse Chisinau functionaries of politicizing the issue and are worried at the statements of Agriculture Minister Anatolie Gorodenco that the Russian aid won’t reach Gagauzia. In this regard, the Executive Committee asks premier Vasile Tarlev to take a stand as to the situation and to comment the statements of the minister.
The Gagauz authorities call on the Prime-Minister to get involved directly in coordinating the board responsible with distributing the humanitarian aid. Also, the release’s authors appeal to President Vladimir Voronin to contribute to step up the delivery of the whole lot of Russian assistance to the GTAU.
Russia intended to send Gagauzia, early in March, 60 tonnes of vegetal oil, canned meat and fish and other foodstuffs, as well as fodder for animals, given the last summer drought. Moldova gave its OK for the two Russian planes with aid to land in Chisinau. The Russian Foreign Ministry mentioned in a communique last week that the Moldovan side, because of unknown reasons, repealed the accord and proposed that the consignment should be brought at a later. President Vladimir Voronin and premier Vasile Tarlev infirmed the refusal to get the Russian aid, declaring the was a misunderstanding. At a reunion with the deputy secretary of the Russian Supreme Security Council, Yuri Zubakov, President Vladimir Voronin pleaded for the soonest delivery of the donation.
