One person detained after PCCOCS searches in Gagauzia

The administrator of a company, which operates PECO stations in the south of the country, is being investigated at large, while the company's accountant was detained. The Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS) has announced the results of raids in Gagauzia in a case of tax evasion and money laundering, IPN reports.

In the prosecution, which was launched in July 2024, the PCCOCS obtained a court warrant for searches in several localities in the south of the country. On Thursday, the lawmen, accompanied by masked men from the "Lightning", raided the company's administrator, from where they seized over 3.8 tons of A95 gasoline and over 3.5 tons of Euro 5 diesel, without documents of origin.

They also seized contracts, documents, drafts, the passport for the metering and fiscal accounting system, in which the seals did not correspond, as well as more than 800,000 lei, the earnings of which the administrator had not provided proof.

According to PCCOCS, the fuel was sold without a license at filling stations in Basarabeasca, Cantemir, Comrat and Vulcanesti, so that the company illegally generated an income of over 3 million 300 thousand lei.

The first deputy chairman of the Executive Committee of Gagauzia, Ilie Uzun, whose house was raided on Thursday, says that his wife is working according to the regulations in force and said that he will take measures according to the legal provisions.
