A woman aged 49 from Chisinau died from flu in the evening of February 14. The information was confirmed for IPN by Stefan Gheorghita, vice director for epidemiological surveillance of the National Public Health Center.
According to this, the woman went to see a doctor at the beginning of February, but refused hospitalization. She received treatment at home. In several days, the woman sought again medical assistance and refused to go to the hospital. She accepted to be hospitalized on February 9 and was diagnosed with flu and pneumonia. In a day, her state worsened. The lab tests confirmed the presence of the A(H1N1) flu virus. The woman hadn’t been vaccinated against flu and suffered also from other diseases.
Stefan Gheorghita said the number of persons who died from flu since the start of the epidemiologic season rose to six.
