One more MP resigns as member of parliamentary subcommission supervising SIS
Alexandru Lipcan, MP on behalf of the Moldova Noastra Alliance Party, resigned as member of the parliamentary subcommission that oversees the activity of the Security and Information Service (SIS). Lipcan is the second member that resigned during the past week.
At the Parliament’s plenary sitting on February 14, the MP said that the subcommission is used to imitate the democratisation in the field and was set up with the aim of misleading the European institutions that demand that the security sector be reformed.
“In reality, SIS remains under the direct influence of the senior political administration. The instructions given by Vladimir Voronin at the meeting of the SIS Board show that at least until the next parliamentary elections this institution will be used as electoral instrument of the Communists, including as cudgel against the political opponents,” Alexandru Lipcan said.
A week ago, the MP Vlad Filat resigned from the post of member of the given subcommission in protest at the abuses and usurpation of power. He said that President Vladimir Voronin fully subdued the Security and Information Service and transformed it into a submissive instrument of his and of the ruling party.
The parliamentary subcommission that oversees the activity of the Security and Information Service was created in 2005. It is composed of five members.
