Judokas Denis Vieru and Adil Osmanov, who won the first two medals at the Paris Olympic Games, will be welcomed tonight at the Chisinau International Airport, IPN reports.
The event to welcome the judo delegation and the two Olympic medalists will be attended by Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Minister of Education Dan Perciun.
Denis Vieru is the first Moldovan judoka in the history of the Republic of Moldova to win a medal at the Olympic Games. He won bronze in the 66 kg weight class after defeating France’s Walide Khyar.
Judoka Adil Osmanov won the bronze medal in the up to 73 kg weight class after winning against Italy’s Manuel Lombardo, European champion in 2021 and double world vice-champion, in the small final.
The event at the Chisinau International Airport is scheduled to start at 07:00 p.m.
