Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Oleg Serebrian, has appealed to the residents of Copanca, Causeni district, urging them not to be swayed by promises of cheap gas and free electricity. He called for reason, emphasizing that the authorities aim to assist by connecting the village to gas and electricity services, IPN reports.
"The actions of Moldova's adversaries in certain localities along the Dniester are attempts to jeopardize stability and progress. The energy crisis artificially created by Gazprom has caused significant challenges for many of you. We are aware of them, we stand with you, as is natural, and we are working to find quick solutions to address the difficulties affecting your daily lives," stated the Deputy Prime Minister.
Oleg Serebrian noted that the measures taken by the authorities are already yielding results. However, this progress displeases some individuals who would rather witness the government struggle with these challenges. Such actors seek to exploit the people's hardships for their own political ends.
"We have seen recent events in Copanca, for instance. Dear residents of Copanca, do not allow yourselves to be exploited. We want to help you, to connect your locality to gas and electricity. There is no turning back. Do not be misled by promises of cheap gas and free electricity. We appeal to your reason and understanding. Together - with the help of our friends and development partners - we will overcome this difficult situation," Serebrian added.
According to the decision of the Commission for Exceptional Situations (CSE), both Copanca and Varnita in Anenii Noi, which are technically connected to networks on the left bank of the Dniester, will be connected to the Premier Energy Distribution networks. However, today, residents of Copanca obstructed the installation of electricity poles. Premier Energy has suspended the works, stating they will resume once adequate working conditions for the teams are ensured.
