Official reserve assets almost US$64m up

The official reserve assets at end-September were US$4.881,93 billion, an increase of US$63.96 million on August 30, 2023, IPN reports, with reference to the National Bank of Moldova.

The rise was influenced by the registration of the World Bank US$88.39 million grant in favor of the Ministry of Finance. The revenues from managing the foreign exchange reserves came to US$
16.25 million, while the net inflows related to the required foreign currency reserves of licensed banks totaled US$14.65 million.

Also, loans and grants were registered in favor of the Ministry of Fiancé for investment projects, amounting to US$3.24 million. The net inflows into the accounts of the External Assistance Programs Management Office came to US$0.55 million, while other net inflows added up to US$0.76 million.

In the period, the depreciation of the exchange rates of the component currencies of foreign exchange reserves against the US dollar (US$36.6m) influenced the official reserve assets down. The decrease was also due to payments made to service Moldova’s foreign debt (US$11.33m).
