Octavian Țîcu: The capital’s historical centre is of primary concern to me

The historical centre of the capital is of primary concern to me, as it is being destroyed on monthly basis. The statements have been made by the candidate of the National Unity Party (PUN) for the position of mayor of the capital, Octavian Țîcu, at the public debates "Only one from many: who and why?", organized by the IPN Press Agency.

"Almost 100 monuments have been destroyed since the Register of historical monuments was created. In my view, the urban plan has the concept of creating a distinct legal entity "The historical centre" with its own rules and well-defined legislation," Octavian Țîcu said.

According to the PUN candidate, the historical centre is not only a question of historical image and memory, but also a source of income for the capital.

Octavian Țîcu has said he is counting on a category of voters who want a change, a different image of politics "and who are fed up with the same characters who appear in the foreground years in a row and do nothing." The candidate has stated that he has demonstrated integrity and personality in various positions held over time, including as minister, that is why he deserves to be elected mayor of the capital.

"About the quality of the election campaign: we have no free elections. Not because of the fear and pressure that existed during the Plahotniuc regime. There are other, more subtle forms showing that there are no free elections, "said Octavian Țîcu, specifying that" there is an electoral "deal" between the candidates Andrei Năstase and Ion Ceban ".

Octavian Țîcu mentioned that he regretted the fact that he failed in trying to establish a Romanian and European center right alliance. "We offer you the opportunity to choose a different image of politics, that is not involved in scandals and corruption and is based on the Romanian and European development model, which will bring reimbursable and non-reimbursable funds, but also partnerships with Romanian cities," Octavian said Ticu.

The IPN news agency carries out a mini-cycle consisting of three electoral debates with the candidates for the position of general mayor of Chisinau municipality, which will confront each other on October 20, 2019. To ensure a maximum level of objectivity in forming the components of the three debates, but also to avoid the repetition of situations attested in other debates, when the same participants were invited on different sound stages, the IPN Agency resorted to a random arrangement mechanism (using the Random.org platform).

The next debates are scheduled for October 15 and 16.

The debates "Only one from many: who and why?", with the participation of the candidates for the position of general mayor of Chisinau municipality, the first round, are the 118th edition of the cycle "Development of political culture in public debates", supported by the German Foundation Hanns Seidel.
