Number of participants in “A dictation for everyone” exceeded expectations

More than 1,000 people took part in the contest to test knowledge of Romanian language “A dictation for everyone”, which was organized by the Chisinau City Hall and the Language Faculty of the State University of Moldova. Head of the University’s Romanian Language, General Linguistic and Classical Languages Department Alexandra Gherasim has told IPN that the number of participants exceeded organizers’ expectations, being four times higher.

The contest involved persons of all ages, from children aged seven to elderly people. Two examination halls were prepared initially, but 14 such halls had to be used.

Before the contest, the organizers held a street test to determine how many people would like to take part in the contest. Many people refused to discuss with the coordinators of the project. Thus, the organizers expected that the number of participants will not be so high.

“But we are glad that there were so many participants,” stated Alexandra Gherasim, voicing hope that it was due to the great love for the Romanian language.

The initial number of five f teachers who will grade the test papers will be increased.

The contest was held on the Independence Day, which is celebrated on August 27. The winners will receive money awards of 2,000 to 1,000 lei for the grades of “10”, “9”, and “8”. The results will be announced on August 30, while the awards will be handed over in a festive event on August 31. The names of winners will be published on www.litere.md, www.chisinau.md, and www.facebook.com/dictare pentru fiecare.
