The novel coronavirus was detected in 35 of the 169 samples processed on March 30. This way, the number of infections with COVID-19 as of March 7 rose to 298, IPN reports, with reference to Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu.

After the meeting of the Single Command Center, the minister said that six of the 35 new cases of infection were imported – three from Romania, two from the UK and one from Belarus. The others are cases of local transmission, with 17 of them being recorded in the municipality of Chisinau.

“I want to note that we have yet cases when the local transmission took place because of negligence,” stated Viorica Dumbrăveanu.

According to her, the first two children diagnosed with COVID-19 were discharged from the hospital today after they twice tested negative for the virus.

In another development, the minister said that a new consignment of tests kits provided by China as humanitarian aid reached Chisinau. The 100,000 test kits purchased by the authorities from China will be delivered to Moldova next week.
