Number of children trafficking cases increased
The number of human trafficking cases in Moldova, including children, increased lately with 27%, the vice-president of International Center „La Strada”, Daniela Misail, announced.
„La strada” experts consider that Moldovan society did not yet realize the gravity of this problem, not even after a sexual exploitation case of 17 Moldavian children by an American citizen was made public. Those children came from poor families, and the case investigation has shown that their parents still did not realize the drama.
In these conditions, the International Center „La Strada” in partnership with the Education, Youth and Sport General Department of municipality Chisinau organized, at the „Mihail Sadoveanu” high school, an educational – informative seminar, entitled „The role of educational managers in preventing children trafficking”. The participants were familiarized with different forms and ways of involving pupils in children traffic preventing actions, as well as deepening the cooperation between school managers and the representatives of the society, involving state structures as well.
As result of this seminar, the teachers got familiarized with the most efficient methods and procedures within the informative process, as well as the formative one.
According to data of the „La Strada” Center, from the total number of trafficked Moldovan children 45% are sexually exploited, 43% are forced to do both, beg and work, 5% are involved in household, other 5% do agricultural works.
