The number of cases of viral infections and flu in the Transnistrian region has increased. A person died after developing flu complications. The region’s administration said the situation is close to critical given that the infection rate this week was by over 40% higher than last week, IPN reports.
More than 5,000 cases of viral infections and 24 cases of flu have been reported in the region this week. Angela Munteanu, specialist of the local Hygiene and Epidemiology Center, was quoted by the TV channel “Pervyi pridnestrovskii” (“Transnistria’s main channel”) as saying that there were recorded AH1N1, AH3N2 and B-type flus, with the infections with the AH1N1 virus prevailing. This type of flu causes the most serious complications. A woman from Bender died after developing pneumonia caused by this virus. This is the first case of death from flu in Transnistria so far this season.
According to the specialist, a critical level in the number of infections will be witnessed in one-two weeks. Afterward, this will decrease.
Tw deaths from flu were reported on the right bank of the Nistru River. There were also confirmed 155 cases of AH1N1 flu and one case of B-type flu.
