President Nicolae Timofti decreed November 1 as a day of national mourning for journalist Constantin Tanase, IPN reports.
In sorrow for the death of the remarkable journalist, publicist and writer Constantin Tanase, who was an active supporter of the national renaissance movement and who signed the Declaration of Independence of Moldova, all the flags in Moldova’s settlements will be flown at half mast on November 1. A moment of silence will be observed in memory of the journalist at 12 noon.
The National Public Broadcaster “Teleradio-Moldova” will broadcast live the journalist’s funeral.
The public authorities, enterprises and organizations are recommended not to stage mass recreational activities on November 1. The editorial staffs of newspapers, radio stations and TV channels are asked to take into account the specific feature of the day of November 1 when compiling the programs and producing the publications for this day.
The founder of the newspaper “Timpul”, Constantin Tanase passed away at the age of 65 on October 30.
