Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Oleg Serebrian, stated that recent reports regarding the resumption of operations at major heavy industry enterprises in the Transnistrian region are not confirmed. According to Serebrian, only small and medium-sized enterprises in the food and light industries are currently operational, reports IPN, citing the Security Zone.
"There are enterprises that continue to operate, particularly in the food and light industry sectors", said the Deputy Prime Minister.
Serebrian noted that authorities have made efforts for these enterprises to function normally since January, but this does not apply to large enterprises.
Regarding changes in the fiscal policy of the Transnistrian region, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that no recent modifications have been made: "If any changes occur, we will announce them publicly. So far, no adjustments have taken place".
Serebrian’s statements come after the leader of the Tiraspol regime recently claimed in an interview that the gas supply to the Transnistrian region is sufficient for the partial resumption of industry. However, no details were provided regarding the affected enterprises or the specific industries.
Following a recent visit to the left bank of the Nistru River, the European Union Ambassador to Moldova, Janis Mazeiks, stated that the Ribnita Metallurgical Plant remains shut down due to the ongoing energy crisis. The official explained that the situation is further complicated by Russia's attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, making it impossible for the plant to operate under the current market conditions.
