Norway to allocate €50m to Moldova

Norway will allocate €50 million to the Republic of Moldova. The announcement was made by the Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre when making statements for the press, together with President Maia Sandu, on the sidelines of the EPC Summit held in Bulboaca, IPN reports.

President Sandu expressed her confidence that the partnership between the two states will become closer and thanked Norway for the offered support. “I want to thank you, Mister Prime Minister, for the support provided by Norway to the Republic of Moldova and for the recent decision concerning this sum of about €50 million that is to be allocated to the Republic of Moldova,” stated Maia Sandu.

She went on to say that they will yet consider how this money will be used, but noted that these are important resources for the Republic of Moldova in these difficult times  caused by the war, by the Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine.

For his part, Jonas Gahr Støre approved of the way in which the European Political Community Summit was staged in Moldova, saying that the presence of the European leaders at this meeting is an additional proof of the support enjoyed by Moldova at European level.
