The gross nominal monthly average income in the third quarter of 2019 was 7385 lei, registering an increase of 13.5% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the National Bureau of Statistics data.

The average monthly income in the public sector was 6456 lei or 14.8% more than in the third quarter of the previous year, while it was 7726 lei in the private sector or 12.9% more than the same period of the previous year.

The highest salaries were registered in the fields of information and communications, finance and insurance and in the field of production and supply of electricity, heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning.

The real income index for the third quarter of 2019, compared to the same period of the previous year, calculated as a ratio between the gross nominal salary index and the consumer price index, was 107.4% or 7.4% up from last year's level.
