No similarities between situations in Georgia and Transnistrian area: Russian ambassador to Chisinau
“There are no similarities between situations in Georgia and Transnistrian area,” stated the Russian ambassador to Moldova, Valery Kuzmin on Wednesday, October 1, at the meeting with Foreign Minister Andrei Stratan, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the the Foreign Ministry's press unit, they tackled issues related to the Moldo-Russian cooperation and to present international relations. The Russian ambassador spoke about the position of his country as to the events in the Caucasus. He said Russia opined the situation is getting stable, invoking the start of the EU observing missions as an argument.
Andrei Stratan reconfirmed the attachment of the Chisinau authorities to peacefully settle the Transnistrian conflict, within the boundaries of the international law. The minister reiterated the necessity to start the 5+2 format talks in order to seek a final solution.
On October 1, deputy premier Andrei Stratan also met with the French ambassador to Moldova, Pierre Andrieu. The discussed about preparing the visit to Chisinau of the French state secretary for European affairs, Jean-Pierre Jouyet. Andrei Stratan and Pierre Andrieu voiced conviction the visit of the top French dignitary will give new impetus to the cooperation relationships between Moldova and France.
