Neither Prime Minister Dorin Recean no another representative of the Cabinet will attend the investiture of the new governor of Gagauzia Yevgenia Gutsul, the Government’s spokesman Daniel Vodă announced.
“Premier Recean said it clearly that in the communication with the local authorities, the Government’s main task will be to support the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, no matter what localities they are from. We will work closely with the mayors, the local authorities. The goal of the Executive is to ensure that the people from Bălți, Taraclia, Cahul, Vulcănești, Comrat, Călărași, Ungheni or from somewhere else equally benefit from the support offered by the authorities,” stated Daniel Vodă. He noted that the legal procedure after the installation will be respected.
In a reaction, governor-elect Yevgenia Gutsul said that even if they were invited, President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Dorin Recean, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and the PAS MPs will not take part in the investiture and she learned about this form the press.
“I accept their decision. God is their judge. But to my mind, this is unprofessionalism and negligence of their direct duties. It is maximum lack of respect for the people’s choice and a direct insult to all the inhabitants of our region. I and the team of Ilan Shor didn’t act like this. We respected all the rules, including the business and diplomatic etiquette,” Yevgenia Gutsul posted on her Telegram channel.
The investiture will take place in the central square of Comrat on July 19, starting at 6:30pm.
