The motion of no confidence regarding the policies and work of the Ministry of Health failed. The parliamentary majority in Thursday's sitting rejected the motion submitted by the MPs of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS), IPN reports.
In her report, Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco spoke about the modernized medical institutions outfitted with modern equipment, both with public money and with the support of international partners. According to her, the amount allocated per patient increased from 867 lei in 2021 to 1,579 lei in 2024. Since 2021, eight new international nonproprietary names have been included in the list of compensated medicines, covering treatments for serious conditions, such as cardiovascular diseases, ophthalmology, oncology, etc. Last year, every third person benefited from compensated medicines or devices, the number of beneficiaries totaling 740,000 citizens.
In the context of the recent cases of death of two pregnant women, invoked by the authors of the motion, the minister said that she cannot make public details in concrete cases. The cases are investigated and forensic examinations are carried out. In the case that happened in Edineț, death was inevitable. "The assumption is that it was amniotic fluid embolism, which is very rare and death occurs within a few minutes. In the second case, when the ambulance team arrived, the cardiogram was on isoline. A heart attack is suspected," noted the official.
As for the death of a young woman at a beauty salon, the minister said that, in order to prevent such tragedies, the law enforcement agencies must do their job as the ministry cannot check all salons because they are not attached to the Ministry of Health.
"Their activities are not medical in character. An illegal activity was carried out there and this can be also carried out in a car repair shop, in the basement. Someone can open a surgical office or a dental office there. Should we go and check all the car repair shops? Until the people do not see that justice is working, they will do whatever comes to their mind because they know that they remain unpunished," said Ala Nemerenco.
In her speech, BCS MP Alla Darovannaya said that this motion highlighted the failures in the healthcare sector. According to her, emergency medical assistance is an increasingly fragile right and more and more often society is overwhelmed by shocking cases, and among the reasons for deaths is invoked the failure to provide the necessary medical assistance on time. In her opinion, these tragedies are the result of inappropriate and uneven policies in the field.
Another BCS MP, Inga Sibova, said that, despite the minister's report, presented pompously, the situation is dramatic, can no longer be hidden and calls for urgent measures. In four days, four deaths that shook society were recorded in the healthcare system. "And the minister says that the system is as it is, that the laws are bad, that the ministry does not have the right to check medical clinics. But who is responsible?", asked the MP.
"The motion submitted by the opposition gives us the opportunity to emphasize once again that the current government has invested a lot to improve the medical services in the country," said MP of the Party of Action and Solidarity Party Petru Frunze.
Being put to the vote, the motion against the policies pursued by the Ministry of Health was supported by only 17 Communist and Socialist MPs. Another 53 PAS MPs voted against. So, the motion was rejected.
