The PLDM didn’t discuss a candidate for Prime Minister with President Nicolae Timofti in the May 7 consultations, the head of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Valeriu Strelet told the journalists after the meeting, IPN reports.
Valeriu Strelet said that they spoke about the situation in the country, the recent laws adopted and the timeframes for designating a candidate for Prime Minister.
He also said he informed the head of state that the party’s Political Bureau will choose a candidate for premiership soon, but didn’t specify a time limit.
President Nicolae Timofti initiated separate consultations with the parliamentary groups of the Liberal Democratic Party, the Democratic Party and the Liberal Party in the afternoon of May 7. They represent a new attempt to identify a candidate for Prime Minister after the Constitutional Court decided that the ex-Premier, the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat, cannot apply for a public post.
