Nisporeni hosts National Plum Festival Sept. 24

The National Plum Festival this year is staged again in Nisporeni town as last year, on September 24, IPN reports. Starting at 10am, the visitors of the stands placed in the Stephan the Great square of Nisporeni will be able to taste plums directly from producers, plum pies and plum sweets. Those who want will also be able to taste plum brandy made this year.

The program of events include a producers’ parade entitled “Grandma’s pantry”, sale and tasting of plum products, an autumn fair and an exhibition and sale of ceramics, fabric and wood items.

The cultural-ethnic-folkloric performance will involve 13 dancing, dramatic, brass band and pop music groups. There will be staged contests with awards and cooking lessons to prepare dishes from plums.

Artists born in Nisporeni will give a concert starting at 6pm. The festival will end with fireworks. Entrance is free of charge.

The festival is at its second edition and is organized by the local authorities in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research.
