Nine Turkish citizens foiled in attempt to illegally cross Moldovan-Romanian border
Three children, five men and a woman of Turkish origin tried to illegally cross the Moldovan-Romanian border, hidden in a small unit of transport. They indented to get to France via Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Border Guard Service.
According to the communiqué, the Ford truck with German license number was driven by a German man. He said he did not know that the nine persons were in his vehicle. There was also a woman in the car who got agitated.
The Turkish citizens aged between 8 and 41 planned to illegally leave Moldova and go to the EU to find employment. They all had valid documents with visas for Moldova. According to the Border Guard Service, the persons entered Moldova legally on different days of this month.
The Turkish nationals said they paid by €2,500 each for the trip to a conational as they did not have visas for the Schengen Area.
The Center for Combating Trafficking in Persons is to continue the investigations to identify all the persons involved in this case.
