Nine potentially vacant seats in Parliament

Nine MP seats could remain vacant in the event the parliamentarians appointed to the Cabinet prefer the latter position, Info-Prim Neo reports. Next in the Liberal-Democratic Party's list, to substitute PM Vlad Filat, Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca, Justice Minister Alexandru Tanase, and Education Minister Mihai Sleahtitchi, are: Elena Frumosu, currently the head of the Culture Department of the Criuleni District; Iurie Apostolachi, the director of the forestry agency Moldsilva in Tighina; Simion Grisciuc, the director of Moldsilva in Straseni; and Victor Bodiu, formerly State Minister. The following Democrat MPs are expected to vacate their seats: Economy Minister Valeriu Lazar, Labor Minister Valentina Buliga, Regional Development Minister Marcel Raducan, and ITC Minister Pavel Filip. They are likely to be replaced in Parliament by historian Stella Jantuan, immunologist Valentina Stratan, Singerei Mayor Gheorghe Brasovschi, and agronomist Oleg Sirbu. The Liberal Minister of Transport Anatol Salaru will likely be replaced by Ion Lupu, currently the director of the water agency Apele Moldovei. Under the Law on the MP Status, the vacant seat shall be attributed to the candidate standing next in line on the party's electoral slate, and the Constitutional Court shall validate the new MP's mandate within 30 days from the vacancy of the seat.
