Nine more Moldovan citizens arrive home after being evacuated from Gaza Strip

Another nine Moldovan nationals were evacuated from the Gaza Strip and arrived home today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration announced in a press release.

Along with a group of Ukrainian citizens, the evacuated Moldovan citizens were welcomed by Mihai Mîțu, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on their arrival at the Chisinau International Airport.

According to the MFAEI, their successful return home is due to joint efforts and international support, including from Israel, Egypt, Ukraine, Qatar, as well as the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

In a separate statement, IOM said that, in coordination with the Moldovan authorities, it is providing assistance to the nine Moldovan citizens – six adults and three children – who arrived today. IOM is also supporting the 36 Moldovan citizens – 7 adults and 29 children – who arrived from the Gaza Strip last Thursday.

The support includes transportation from the airport to the accommodation, primary health care and counseling, ground transportation for families to their final destination across the republic and in Europe, and a number of essential items.

This support is provided thanks to IOM Moldova’s synergy and cooperation with the MFAEI, the General Inspectorate for Migration, and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
