The 12th Night of Art charity exhibition and sale will be held at the Palace of the Republic in Chisinau on April 23. Mariana Lita, co-president of the International Women’s Club of Moldova that organizes the event, said the Club has staged charity events to help those in need for 20 years already, IPN reports.
The event’s coordinator Olga Goncearova told a news conference that initially the event was held to showcase the works of the Moldovans painters, while the proceeds went to sick children. Among the main beneficiaries this year are well-known artists with a more difficult social situation and young people who learned from these. There will be presented two schools of arts – Children’s school of plastic arts “A. Sciusev” of Chisinau and the School of plastic arts of Telenesti – where the annual tuition of talented children who cannot afford these costs will be paid.
Another organizer Angela Stoica said the event will involve five pensioners-craftspeople who will benefit from financial support as a result of this event. Also, a number of children will receive scholarships to study arts. More than 65 artists will take part in the event whose goal is to collect a rather large sum of money with which to help as many beneficiaries as possible.
According to the organizers, the event is very popular and the number of visitors is on the rise. The previous event involved over 800 persons. Tickets cost 100 lei. Entrance for children younger than 14 is free. About 1,000 visitors are expected to the Night of Art 2016. The event starts at 4pm and ends at 9pm.
