President Nicolae Timofti conferred the Order of the Republic, which is the highest award of Moldova, on a number of signatories of the Declaration of Independence in gratitude for their contribution to proclaiming Moldova as a sovereign, independent and democratic state, IPN has learned from the presidential press service.
The Order of the Republic was awarded to Alexandru Burian, Valentin Cunev, Petru Lupascu, Nicolae Moraru, Ion Turcanu as well as MP Vladimir Hotineanu, director of the Hepatic Surgery and Transplant Center of the Fundeni Clinical Institute of Romania Irinel Popescu and other personalities.
The Order of Honor was given to the editor-in-chief of the weekly “Faclia” Tudor Rusu. The Labor Glory Order was presented to Teleradio-Moldova Company film director Alic Barat, chairman of the Red Cross Society of Moldova Larisa Birca, deputy mayor of Chisinau Vladimir Cotet, MP Tudor Deliu, and director of Moldova 1 TV channel Mircea Surdu.
The medal “Civic Merit” was conferred on the division head at the National Clinical Hospital Valeriu Bogdan, director of the Transplant Agency of Moldova Igor Codreanu, senior specialist of the Chisinau City Hall Maria Diaconu, lecturer at the State University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics “Nicolae Testemitanu” Adrian Hotineanu, and other personalities.
