Nicoale Andronic blames Chisinau authorities for the “wine crisis”
The chairman of the Republican People’s Party (PPR), Nicolae Andronic considers that the leadership of Chisinau is guilty of the “wine crisis”, which didn’t analyze the possible consequences.
Nicolae Andronic stated at a press conference that the start of the crisis was predictable a long time before. He notes that the authorities should realize that as result of worsening relationship with Moscow would have an economic impact on Moldova. In these conditions, Chisinau government shall ensure for local producers an alternative market for their goods.
The country’s leadership does not have to tell us if Russians are good or bad. This is not a way of leading the state. All taken decisions have to be guided by calculations, not by emotions, he mentioned.
Nicolae Andronic considers that it is not true when it is said that “Russian will long for” Moldovan wines. In his opinion, wines from Chile and Australia will occupy Russian market very soon.
PPR chairman also noted that Moldova could suffer further economic consequences as well because of signing EU declaration on undemocratic elections of Belarus. This country was an alternative market for Moldovan goods. “I am not saying that signing EU declaration authorities of Chisinau was a good or bad step, but the government shall take into consideration the consequences as well,” Andronic highlighted.
The so called wine crisis started on 27 March 2006, when Russia banned their imports from Moldova and Georgia. Officials and analyst from Chisinau consider this decision to be political, related to implementation of the new customs regime at Moldovan-Ukrainian border.
