A number of national NGOs ask to annul the restrictions imposed by the National Extraordinary Commission for Public Health as these are harsh and unjustified. They refer to the ban on holding religious ceremonies with the involvement of parishioners imposed until June 30. In an open letter to the senior administration, the signatory NGOs demand that such decisions should be taken only after consulting high church officials.
In a news conference at IPN, Laura Prepeliţă, of the Independent Information Center, said that civil society expects the authorities to apologize to the Church Synod for the statements referring to the Moldovan Metropolitan Church that they consider denigrating. They also demand to establish a constructive and transparent dialogue between the authorities, high church officials and representatives of civil society.
“We consider the reaction of state officials to the request made by the Synod of the Moldovan Orthodox Church on May 20-21 shows a denigrating attitude and lack of respect and is fully inacceptable in a civilized society. We should not forget that the Orthodox Church has been the main pillar of the existence of our nation during centuries. We thus consider it is opportune to demand to withdraw the unfounded accusations against the Church and to offer apologies in this regard. We ask for openness to a constructive and efficient dialogue between the country’s government with high church officials and with representatives of civil society, NGOs of the Republic of Moldova,” Laura Prepeliţă said, reading the letter addressed to the President, Parliament Speaker, Prime Minister and ministers of justice and health.
Ala Stârcu, who presented herself as a person with full rights and freedoms, noted that she came to the conference in order to respond to the violation of human rights. “The MPs are so afraid, I do not understand either they fear COVID or something else, that they accept the violation of all the human rights and none of them dared to challenge the measures taken during the state of emergency in the Constitutional Court, not to mention now, after May 15. You say you represent the people. But which people? Those poor people who sell at the market in order to buy a loaf of bread? The teachers or the doctors, or the children? Where are the people whose interests you defend? Do you keep them inside the house so that they die of starvation or at the bottom of the sea, where justice and truth usually lie?” asked Ala Stârcu.
By the letter to the authorities, the signatories ask to provide state guarantees that the vaccination against COVID-19 in the Republic of Moldova will not be mandatory and will remain optional. The NGOs demand that the unvaccinated children should be admitted to schools and kindergartens.
“Our public organization “Clean Planet” earlier opposed the mandatory vaccination of children. We are not fully against vaccination, but while investigating this problem during over 12 years, we accumulated sufficient theoretical and practical proofs and decided that each parent should realize the risks of post-vaccination complications about which nothing is said officially, stated Alexandru Kovalski, of “Clean Planet”.
Through the agency of the letter, the signatories ask for additional information about each case of death caused by COVID-19 and about the goal of placing 5G antennas, more exactly their location and the number of antennas set up in Moldova so far.
The letter was signed by representatives of the Independent Information Center, “Clean Planet” Association and “Areopagus Florești” Association.
