NGO against modification of school program
The Ministry of Education and Youth intends to introduce changes to the school program and replace the subject “Moral-Spiritual Education” with “Moral-Civic Education”, the Scientific and Cultural Association “Moral-Spiritual Education” warns. The Government cannot modify the program adopted by the Parliament in 2000, the NGO says in a communiqué.
“The subject “Moral-Civic Education” would be more like the Class Master’s Lesson, which has similar contents. In most of the European countries, the education process is based on Christian morality, which is considered the foundation of education. The religious education is a component part of the school curriculum,” the Association’s president Rodica Calistru has told Info-Prim Neo.
She also said that she filed numerous applications to the Minister of Education Larisa Savga, but obtained no results. “Galina Bulat (Deputy Minister of Education – e.n.) said that it was Victor Stepaniuc (Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister), who instructed that the amendment be introduced. I think that these changes are connected with the violent events that took place in April,” Rodica Calistru said.
The Association “Moral-Spiritual Education” calls on the people and the MPs to take attitude. The education program was already printed and inspectors from all over the country will come to the Education Ministry the next days for information for the August conferences of teachers.
“Steps should be taken before the pedagogues acquaint themselves with the education plan. The changes that will be made later will not be taken into account by all the teachers,” she added.
