New stadium corresponding to international standards opened in Chisinau
The football club Zimbru opened on Saturday evening, May 20, the first stadium in Chisinau that complies with international standards. On this occasion Zimbru played a friendly match with “Crylia Sovetov” from Samara, Russia which ended with the score of 1:1.
The new stadium of the club has a capacity of 10 thousand places and costs 12 million USD. It is a part of a Sports Center of the Club that costs 15 million USD. Besides the central stadium, the Sports Center includes training stadiums – with artificial and natural grass a hotel center for the foreign teams and football school for youth. Constructing the building lasted 3 years.
FC Zimbru was founded in 1940 with the name of “Dinamo”. During the years the club had several names, inclusively Nistru-Chisinau. He won 8 times the Moldovan Championship and 4 times the Cup of Moldova.
