Judges and prosecutors will get additional social guarantees. The Parliament adopted in second reading a draft law to cover transportation and housing rental costs for magistrates who work in a town other than their place of residence and have to commute. The new facilities will also apply to members of the Superior Council of the Magistracy, the Superior Council of Prosecutors and their specialized structures, IPN reports.
Judges and prosecutors will be able to receive compensation for the cost of round-trip travel or renting accommodation if the place where they agree to work is at least 20 kilometers from their place of residence. The provisions of the law will not apply to those working in the municipality of Chisinau.
The conditions and methodology for calculating the monthly compensation will be regulated by a government decision. At the same time, as the financial resources of the state budget are limited, a maximum ceiling of 4 500 lei will be set for the compensation.
According to the information presented by the SCM, the PSC and the General Prosecutor's Office, 189 people will benefit from these facilities. They are 78 judges, 108 prosecutors and three members of the Superior Council of Prosecutors.
The draft law was voted in second reading by 70 members of the Parliament.
