The Central Treasury within the Ministry of Finance became a direct participant in the Automated Interbanking Payment System (AIPS). This fact will allow this institution to benefit from services offered by AIPS for performing payments and managing risks. According to the Press Service of the National Bank of Moldova, by integrating the Central Treasury in this system an important stage on gradual compliance of the national interbanking payment system with the international standards was finished. It is included in the Government and NBM Strategy on the development of the financial sector of Moldova for 2005 – 2010. AIPS opened on April 21, 2006. The participants in this system are the NBM, banks licensed by the NBM and the Discount Centre in Tiraspol.
