New obligations to grant and pay additional leave for people affected by Chernobyl disaster

The new rules on declaring and paying the additional 14-day leave for people affected by the Chernobyl disaster came into force on November 3. The amended regulations were announced by the National House of Social Insurance (CNAS), IPN reports.

According to the new provisions, CNAS will automatically make the payment for this leave based on data from the State Register of Individual Records, which includes information about the calculated amount and the period of leave, as declared by employers.

In order to comply with the new procedures, employers must declare the amount corresponding to the 14 calendar days of additional leave in Table No. 2 of the IPC 21 Declaration, using the new category "180" – intended exclusively for people who have suffered from the Chernobyl disaster and who benefit from this right.

CNAS emphasizes that this category was introduced by Annex No. 3 to the Order of the Ministry of Finance. Employers are warned to comply with the following rules for data accuracy:

"The period in columns 5 and 6 of Table No. 2 must be exactly of 14 days. Social contributions are not added to the amount declared in column 9, and column 11 will have the index zero. The amount in category 180 shall not be included in the totals of the table, thus avoiding duplication of contributions. If the leave is extended to two months, a single registration is made for the entire period, without division," reads a CNAS press release.
