Seven education institutions of Moldova will receive new furniture by the end of December. The set includes 2,500 cupboards and 6,500 desks, plus chairs for 13,000 pupils. The first consignment of the kind was delivered on December 6, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Ministry of Education, the cupboards are intended for the primary classes. The children will be able to leave the books and personal belongings at school in order to reduce the weight of schoolbags. The desks and chairs are for students from all the grades and were adjusted to their height.
The recipient institutions were selected by a commission of the Ministry, based on the applications filed to district education divisions. Among the factors that were taken into account are the number of students, including those who come from other settlements, the demographic situation in the settlements of residence, the furniture’s state and the school standing.
The total value of the project is over 7 million lei. The money was allocated from the state budget.
